Visual Design Systems
Component libraries and design tokens so every team can ship on-brand work without supervision.
A design system turns your brand from a PDF into a working asset. Components, tokens, and patterns codified so designers, engineers, and external partners all ship consistent work — fast.
We build systems in Figma with engineering hand-off baked in, optionally backed by a coded library in your stack.
The problem we solve
Why teams come to us for visual design systems
Brand exists in a PDF, product looks nothing like marketing, and every new screen is a fresh design debate. Engineers hard-code values, designers re-create components, and consistency is whoever shouted last.
What's missing isn't talent — it's a shared system both sides actually use.
What changes
What ThickLabel changes
- A token architecture (color, type, spacing, motion) that drives both design and code.
- A Figma component library with variants engineers can implement one-to-one.
- Governance so the system evolves without forking.
- Cross-functional language: designers and devs reviewing the same components, not the same screenshots.
Deliverables
What's included
- Token architecture (color, type, spacing, motion)
- Figma component library with variants
- Documentation and usage guidance
- Engineering hand-off and code parity
- Governance model for ongoing changes
- Training session for design and dev teams
Process
How the engagement runs
- 01
Audit and inventory
Catalog existing components across product, marketing, and brand surfaces. Identify duplication and gaps.
- 02
Token and component foundation
Build the primitives — colors, typography, spacing, elevation, motion — then the components that compose them.
- 03
Engineering parity
Hand off to engineering with optional coded library, naming aligned to Figma, and Storybook documentation.
- 04
Governance and rollout
Contribution model, review cadence, and training session so the system survives the people who built it.
FAQ
Common questions
Do you build the coded library too?
We can. Many engagements ship a Figma system first and pair with your engineering team on the coded version, in React, Vue, or whichever stack you use.
How big does my team need to be?
A design system pays back from about three designers or two product teams. Below that, a tight brand kit is usually the right call.
